Jakarta – Two ships docked at Sunda Kelapa Port, Ancol Subdistrict, Pademangan District, caught fire on Sunday night (March 3). A total of 80 personnel from the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat) were deployed to handle the incident.

The Head of Operations at the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Department, Gatot Sulaeman, stated that the fire report was received at 6:13 PM WIB. The blaze engulfed the Sinar Sembuluh and Sagam Surya ships, which were docked at the port.

“We moved quickly to the location. Our personnel arrived at 6:19 PM WIB and started the extinguishing process three minutes later,” he said.

The firefighting efforts were intense. The flames were successfully contained at 7:10 PM WIB, preventing further spread. By 7:57 PM WIB, the team began the cooling process to ensure no remaining fire sources.

A total of 16 fire trucks were deployed in the operation. According to an initial investigation, the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in the engine room of the Sinar Sembuluh, which then sparked flames that spread to the nearby Sagam Surya ship.

Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. Currently, further investigations into the exact cause of the fire are being conducted by the authorities.
